These handcrafted heart earrings feature Puerto Rico's powerful black-and-white Resistance Flag, a symbol that represents resistance, mourning, protest, and the continued fight to protect Puerto Rico, its people, and its future.
The black-and-white flag emerged in Old San Juan in 2016, when the familiar Puerto Rican flag painted on the door at 55 Calle San José was transformed from red, white, and blue to black and white. The change came in response to PROMESA and the creation of the federal fiscal oversight board. What began as an artistic act of resistance grew into a powerful symbol seen throughout Puerto Rico and during the historic protests of 2019.
Resistencia Boricua was created in that same spirit. Not simply to wear the Puerto Rican flag, but to honor what this version of our flag represents.
Each heart is handmade from polymer clay, individually hand-painted in black and white, and finished with a glossy UV resin coating for added shine and durability.
